Frequently Asked Questions

How many name servers do you have?
Netriplex has 32 name servers around the world on 32 different subnets. This diversity and redundancy ensures unsurpassed DNS response times and zero downtime guarantees.
How do I get started with your dns service?
First, you must own a domain name. Then, you must sign-up for a Critical Global DNS account, create your domains via the DNS Manager and then change the name servers
associated with your domain to use Netriplex's name servers.
Does Netriplex reserve or register domain names?
No, we do not. If you need to purchase a domain name, we recommend
www.really-cheap-domains.us.
Does your Critical Global DNS service include web hosting?
No, it does not. Web hosting is a separate service. Please visit our eBusiness Hosting section for more details.
How do I set-up and administer my domain?
Domain management is easy. After signing up for our service, you will
be given access to our DNS Manager where you can add, edit and delete your own domains.
How do I tell the world to use your name servers when resolving my domain?
Once you have added your domain name to our system via the DNS Manager, you
must then go back to the website where you purchased or registered your domain and
log-in to your account. Simply edit the name servers to the Netriplex name
servers given to you in the DNS Manager. Within 72 hours of that change, your domain
name will be resolving correctly.
Do you offer round-robin DNS?
Yes we do. You can take advantage of this DNS technique by simply creating multiple A records for your domain.
Do you offer Reverse Lookup (PTR) zones?
Yes we do. You must first, however, contact the ISP that issued you your IP addresses
and have them delegate the IN-ADDR.ARPA records to
Netriplex's name servers as listed
on the DNS Manager.
Can I use the Critical Global DNS as a secondary server only?
Absolutely. In fact, by creating a zone via the DNS Manager that uses your own
name server as the primary, you gain more than just one secondary server, you gain
the benefit of our entire network.
Can I use your name servers for recursive DNS services?
No. Our name servers are only designed to be used as primary. However, we do
offer recursive services for a fee.
How does your DNS Failover Service Work?
Our DNS Failover service can work two different ways. The first option
is to monitor your primary server. If it goes offline, the DNS Failover will automatically
switch the A record to point to your backup server(s). You can have as many backup
servers as you want. It will monitor them all to know which are available and will
always publish the first working server.
The second method is the round robin distributed solution. Our system will
create A records for all of the servers that are available. Should it detect that
one of them goes offline, it will simply delete the A record for that server and
continue directing traffic to the remaining servers.
Can the DNS Failover Service Notify me if there is an issue?
Absolutely. It can be programmed to send you an email if it encounters difficulty
with any of your servers.
How often does the monitoring service check to see if my Server(s) are up?
This can be programmed by you via the web interface. The lowest setting is 10
seconds.
